2023 Colorado - More Than A Refresh - An Upgrade

The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado grows in size with a completely new and wider exterior design and a vastly improved interior. Chevy has added a Trail Boss trim level for the 2023 Colorado. Still, the mid-size pickup's previously offered V-6 and Duramax diesel powertrains get the boot, replaced by the Silverado 1500 's turbocharged 2.7-liter inline-four with output varying from 237 to 310 horsepower with 260 or 391 pound-feet of torque, respectively. The high output has 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. Chevy says its third-generation Colorado will begin production in the first half of 2023 at GM's Wentzville, Missouri, assembly plant where the current Colorado and GMC Canyon are built. Suppose it was possible to use an Easy-Bake Oven to cook up the perfect mid-size pickup. In that case, we'd hope the recipe would include the following fixings: The fun factor of the Jeep Gladiator The ride and a bed-storage tub of the Honda Ridgeline The distracting good looks of the Toyota Tacoma The friendly starting price of the Ford Ranger While making a market-leading mid-sized truck isn't as easy as making brownies in a child's kitchen toy, it does look like Chevrolet got the recipe right. The new 2023 Chevy Colorado is striving to be something like that. This all-new third-gen pickup, which goes into production in the first half of next year, fights to have all the best ingredients, starting with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that has as much horsepower as the V-6 in Nissan's new Frontier. more Missouri - Home of the Colorado Chevy has streamlined the bulk of its trim levels for the 2023 Colorado based on the popularity of the previous-generation truck, offering this new unit exclusively as a four-door crew cab with a shorter five-foot-two-inch box. From base Work Truck (WT) trim up to the dust-busting ZR2 off-roader, Chevy has opted to offer what most people want, even if that means giving some people more than they need by dropping short-cab and long-bed options. Proportionally, the new Colorado is 2.3 inches wider than the previous pickup. The new Colorado also uses a 3.1-inch-longer wheelbase across all trims, and a shorter front overhang to help improve approach angles. The new ZR2's 38.3-degree approach is more than an upgrade from the last truck's 31.8-degree angle; it's also better than the current Tacoma TRD Pro's 35-degree approach. Colorado wheels now use the full-size Silverado 1500's 6.0-by-5.5-inch bolt pattern, which opens up aluminum wheel options from as early as 1999. With bigger hubs come larger brakes. The four-wheel discs on the 2023 Colorado are now over an inch larger up front, and nearly an inch bigger on the solid rear axle. It's grown 200 to 300 pounds heavier in 4WD configuration, but the biggest increase is for ZR2 models. The previous crew-cab ZR2 had the soon-lost 3.6-liter V-6 and weighed 4749 pounds, but the new ZR2 is up to 5298 pounds, the largest increase we noticed from the specs provided. Goodbye Diesel - Hello 2.7L of Power The old Colorado and GMC Canyon were once two of just three mid-size pickups to offer a diesel powertrain, but not anymore. The 2023 Colorado will be powered exclusively by Chevy's turbocharged 2.7-liter inline-four engine bolted to an updated eight-speed automatic transmission. Power varies between trim levels. Base WT and LT trims come standard with 237 horsepower with 259 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain's max towing capacity is 3500 pounds. The midlevel Z71 and new-for-2023 Trail Boss trim come with a 310 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque with 7700 pounds of max towing. That's the highest in the segment. This powertrain is also available for WT and LT levels. Finally, the big-daddy ZR2 has the same horsepower as Z71 and Trail Boss, but with 430 pound-feet of torque at 3000 rpm. That's a 121 horsepower and 61-pound-foot improvement over the outgoing diesel engine. Chevy says any trim can upgrade to the high-output engine through their Limited Production Option (LPO) preorder offer. The EPA has not published fuel economy ratings of the 2.7-liter, but Chevy expects roughly the same as the last-gen 2.5-liter pickup's 19 city and 25 highway EPA rating. The turbocharged 2.7-liter engines are equipped with stop/start technology and active cylinder management that will drop combustion to just two cylinders when appropriate to save fuel. Trail Boss Colorado is Here! Previously offered as a package for LT and Z71 models, Trail Boss is now its own trim level. It uses the same wide front as the ZR2 model but with a smaller 2.0-inch factory lift for 9.4-inches of ground clearance and 32-inch Goodyear Territory AT tires wrapped around 18-inch wheels. The Z71 uses this same wheel and tire setup but has a more premium-feeling interior than the Trail Boss' rugged cabin. Things get even more serious when you step up to the ZR2 model. The Colorado ZR2 comes fully loaded with 10.7 inches of ground clearance, the biggest tires, and the most LED lighting. Standard equipment includes Chevy's Flow Tie front emblem, spray-on bedliner, 17-inch wheels with 33-inch mud-terrain tires, front and rear electronic locking differentials, a 3.42 rear axle, and extra body armor underneath to prevent the inevitable. It gets those pretty gold and blue Multimatic Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve (DSSV) dampers too. This time, the rear dampers are mounted outboard of the frame, rather than inside, which Chevy said was necessary for the new truck's size and architecture. The Desert Boss, specifically the boss of deserts, not trails, adds even more off-road gizmos to the ZR2 as an additional equipment package. It adds 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, a unique bash-bar front bumper, a roof-mounted light bar, an underbody camera, and decals that show everyone who the Desert Boss is. It's unclear yet what happens when two bosses meet in the wild. The standard for the ZR2, and available on other models, is a new tailgate storage system that provides a lockable space 45 inches wide by 4.0 inches deep to store tools, drinks, or your pet rock collection. This tailgate can also lock itself in the midway position to help flat-load items (up to 500 pounds), such as sheets of wood or drywall, into the bed. Much Better Interior The redesigned interior is another significant improvement over the outgoing pickup. Every Colorado has a large 11.3-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. This is the biggest screen in the smaller truck segment. The gear shifter now favors the cab's passenger side, and the cupholders are located directly low and in front of the center console instead of tucked opposite the gear selector. A new gauge cluster and steering wheel complete the updated design. Dual-zone climate control with rear-seat climate is also available. Chevy will even sell you red or yellow seatbelts for Z71 or ZR2 models, should you need extra interior flair. A sunroof is also part of the available equipment. The new Colorado also gets an Off-Road Performance Display. Depending on the drive mode, the app delivers information about vehicle tire pressure, pitch, roll, g-force, GPS, and altitude. While the Colorado won't have a Sport mode, its Tow/Haul, Off-Road, Terrain, and Baja options are tailored for situations where specific throttle control and shifting are required. Among the camera views—up to 10—the Colorado's Hitch Guidance software, now standard, exists to help you line up the hitch on the first try. Then, an additional Hitch View takes that camera a step further with a zoomed-in view. Pricing should be announced later this year. It will continue to be built by the folks at GM's Wentzille, Missouri, assembly plant, with the start of production sometime in the first half of 2023. Why Buy A 2022 Colorado? While the 2022 might not seem as exciting as the upcoming 2023, it does offer you the last chance to purchase the vehicle with the outgoing engines. Whether you like the sound and power of the V6 or the diesel's torque, 2022 is your last chance. 2024 Chevy Silverado HD Trucks Get an Updated Front End and Upgraded Interior

The supersize Silverados also add a mightier Duramax diesel and a 10-speed Allison gearbox for the gasser. The 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD get a facelift, and most models receive a massively improved interior with giant screens. Gas-fed models now have a 10-speed automatic transmission, and diesel models make 470 horses (up 25) and 975 pound-feet of torque (up 65). The '24 Silverado HD will go into production in the first half of 2023, with the first-ever ZR2 version also eventually joining the lineup. Chevy's big pickup trucks—the Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD—are refreshed for the 2024 model year. Along with an updated front end, most trim levels benefit from an overhauled interior design that first debuted on the half-ton Silverado about a year ago. The improvements to the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD trucks are more than skin deep, though. more New Transmission, Mightier Diesel Sure, the facelift and redesigned cabin help Chevy's heavy-duty pickups stay looking fresh, but the bottom line is that the Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD are built for work duty. That's where their updated powertrains come into play. The standard gas-fed 6.6-liter V-8 is unchanged, meaning it makes the same 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque as its predecessor. However, it now pairs with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission instead of a six-speed automatic. Chevy says the gas engine's new gearbox helps it use its peak power better. For 2024, gas-burning Silverado HDs also have a higher Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR), which rises from 24,000 to 26,000 pounds. The optional Duramax diesel 6.6-liter V-8 continues with the same Allison 10-speed automatic, but its output gets a significant uptick. It now makes 470 horsepower (up from 445) and 975 pound-feet of torque (up from 910). Chevy says the increases result from updates to the control architecture, combustion system, and turbocharger, which are also said to help provide up to 25 percent more low-end torque and improve efficiency. However, we don't know how the updates will affect fuel economy since the trucks are exempt from EPA testing, and the company isn't currently sharing estimates. We know the 2024 Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD still have max tow ratings of 22,500 and 36,000 pounds, respectively. Fresh Face, Improved Interior For 2024, the supersize Silverado has a new front end, from the base-level Work Truck to the top-of-the-line High Country. Along with the newly designed grille and C-shaped LED lighting elements, the LTZ and High Country trim levels feature new dual-projector headlights with animated sequences for when the driver approaches or walks away from the trucks. Chevy also supplies the '24 Silverado HD with new wheel options, including chrome 20-inch wheels for the LTZ and polished 18-inchers and all-terrain tires for the dual-rear-axle 3500HD. Plus, a set of 20-inch off-road tires can now be had with specific packages. The Midnight Edition, a blacked-out appearance package, is also available on the High Country for the first time. Inside, heavy-duty Silverados adopt a new dashboard design with prominent digital displays. While the updated layout and tech features aren't offered on the Work Truck or Custom trim levels, they're standard on the LT model and up. The setup includes a configurable 12.3-inch gauge cluster and a 13.4-inch touchscreen with Google-based software and apps. The updated interior also brings a revised center console with a wireless charger and more space for cupholders. The fanciest Silverado models have real leather-wrapped surfaces and genuine wood accents. Exclusively on the High Country, there's a new Nightshift Blue interior option with all the top-notch materials. The Silverado HD trucks also benefit from better driver assists. The list includes adaptive cruise control that works while pulling a trailer, and the blind-spot monitor now has an extended range while trailering. A new alert lets users know if they exceed the truck's GCWR. In addition, the available camera view that uses technology to make a trailer transparent has been enhanced to work with fifth-wheel and gooseneck setups. ZR2, Coming to a Silverado HD Near You The 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD will go on sale in the first half of 2023. The company says it'll share pricing closer to their on-sale date. Chevy also announced today that the heavy-duty Silverado would be getting a version of the off-road-ready ZR2 model for the first time, but it'll launch sometime after the regular trucks. Shopping the 2023 Silverado HD We will have a ton of 2500 and 3500 HDs available through the end of the year. Reserve Your Blazer EV - Lock in a Discount

Chevrolet just opened up reservations for the Blazer EV. You can reserve yours by clicking the button below. We guarantee a discount if you reserve your Blazer EV through us. This is only available at Donohoo Chevrolet. Reserve Blazer EV Reserve Silverado EV more Blazer EV Trims The Blazer EV debuts with four trims—1LT, 2LT, RS, and SS—and a dizzying array of powertrain choices. The 1LT, 2LT, and RS are front-wheel-drive models as standard, with the 1LT able to go an estimated 247 miles on a charge. All-wheel drive is optional on the 2LT and RS, and the 2LT maxes out at 293 miles of range depending on battery size. The RS will also be available in a rear-wheel-drive configuration, and with a specific battery and drivetrain, the RS can travel up to 320 miles. The Blazer EV rides on General Motors' Ultium platform, and multiple battery configurations are available, but Chevy hasn't revealed how big the packs are. Chevy says that when plugged into a DC fast-charger, the Blazer EV can charge up to 190 kW, adding 78 miles of range in 10 minutes. At the top of the range, the Blazer SS becomes the first electric Chevy to bear the Super Sport badge, and it pumps out 557 horsepower and 648 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is standard on the SS, and Chevy claims the crossover can hit 60 mph in under four seconds in the sportiest drive mode—which bears the name Wide Open Watts, or WOW. In addition, the SS will have front Brembo brakes, and it, like all Blazer EV s, features an independent front and rear suspension. The SS boasts an estimated 290-mile range. Each trim level gets a unique front fascia, with the LT displaying a blanked-off body-color grille while the RS adds a black grille piece, a full-width LED light bar, and sporty side skirts. The SS gets a more aggressive black mask with a column of strakes below the headlights and also gains a black roof. The LT rides on 19-inch wheels, the RS upgrades to 21-inch units, and the SS features 22-inch wheels. The LED light bar found on the RS and SS, which includes an illuminated Chevy logo, plays lighting sequences as the driver walks towards or away from the car and displays the charge level when the Blazer is plugged in. Blazer EV Interior The centerpiece in the interior is a 17.7-inch touchscreen paired with an 11-inch digital gauge cluster. The dashboard design is sleek and futuristic with turbine-like air vents, and the RS and SS add a flat-bottom steering wheel, ambient lighting, and many red accents. The RS and SS also get heated and ventilated front seats, while standard heated rear seats on the SS can also be optioned on the RS. The Blazer EV also comes packed with technology, with standard automated emergency braking, lane-keep assist, front pedestrian detection and braking, and optional reverse automated braking and Advanced Park Assist. GM's Super Cruise hands-free highway driving system is also available, and the MyChevy app will allow owners to map out routes to find charging stations. Trailering provisions are included when you add the Comfort & Convenience Package on the 2LT model with AWD and standard on the RS model. Additional vehicle features and options will be provided closer to the start of 2024 Blazer EV production. Chevy also says there will be a Police Pursuit Vehicle version of the Blazer EV. Using the SS as a base, the PPV will be fitted with the largest battery and offered in rear-wheel drive or dual-motor, all-wheel drive specifications. The PPV will also have the SS model's Brembo front brakes, and an interior redesigned to suit the needs of police officers. When Can You Expect It? The first Blazer EVs to arrive will be the 2LT and the RS, which go on sale next summer. The 2LT will start at $47,595 and the RS at $51,995, with the SS coming later in 2023 at an asking price of $65,995. Finally, the cheapest Blazer EV, the 1LT, and the PPV will show up in the first quarter of 2024, with the 1LT starting at $44,995.

Get Ready For Reservations - Blazer EV

Let us start with a sales pitch. If you are going to reserve a Chevrolet Electric Vehicle, you need to reserve it through Donohoo Chevrolet. Why? Here is why: Guaranteed Discount from MSRP. Yes, this is an actual guarantee. We can't promise that GM won't change the MSRP before your vehicle is delivered, but we can promise to hold true to your discount. The Silverado EV is $2,500 off MSRP if you reserve with us. So it doesn't matter if you choose the base trim or the most expensive; you still get $2,500 off. The Blazer EV is discounted off MSRP. That is a guaranteed discount. The Equinox EV is discounted off MSRP. Yes, we promise a discount even before the official announcement. Donohoo Chevrolet has sold more EVs than 99% of Chevrolet dealers. We completed one of the first battery swaps in the BOLT and will continue to invest in the future of electric. You need to put your reservation in with someone who knows what they are doing with electric. End sales pitch. more Chevrolet has announced its all-electric Blazer electric vehicle will be revealed on July 18, 2022, at 8 pm PT/11 pm ET. Reservations will open on the same day. As we mentioned, using Donohoo Chevrolet as your facilitating dealership guarantees your discount. GM has been drip-dropping news on the Chevrolet Blazer EV since it was first teased at the GM CES presentation by CEO Mary Barra in January. At that point, it was a surprising sideline to the Silverado EV along with the $30,000 Equinox EV. Super Sport is a signature performance option package offered by Chevrolet since 1961. It implies that the new full image of the Blazer EV SS confirms that the first EV Blazer will be priced quite a bit higher than the $30,000 Equinox EV. Equinox EV Interior GM is finally starting to roll out some of the Ultium EVs CEO Mary Barra has been promising for years now. GMC started the year with limited numbers of Hummer EVs. GM's Spring Hill just started cranking out Cadillac Lyriq. Of course, the Silverado EV mentioned above and Equinox EV also are expected in the calendar year 2023. The company has plans to invest $7B in EVs and plans to have sales of 1 million EVs per year by 2025. Now that we can finally see the whole package, I have to say I like the look of the Blazer EV. We know from the previous drop that the indentation behind the front wheel will be where the charging port is. A lot is going on in the front of the car, but it isn't certain if it will support the camera equipment for SuperCruise. However, I suspect it will, at least in the SS trim. The big questions: AWD? Range? Charging speed? Interior quality? We'll find out on July 18. Reserve the Silverado EV

Land O' Lakes Members Qualify For Massive Discounts

What is the Land O' Lakes CAP (Competitive Assistance Program)? This program adds value to your cooperative and co-op members by consolidating “the buy” on fleet equipment which has allowed the program to achieve an average of $5,300 in manufacturer discounts per vehicle. Over 3,000 members use this program each year and over $50 million has been saved for producers and members over the past 3 years alone. Program Features: Average per vehicle savings of $5,300 and up to $11,000. Very competitive pricing and off-invoice rebates No tax on rebate dollars. Retail rebate dollars are taxed, then removed, GM takes off Land O' Lakes program rebate dollars before tax. Improved Warranty: Retail purchase gets 3-year, 36,000 full coverage, and powertrain to 60,000 miles. The CAP program gives you a 3-year, 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper and an extended powertrain of up to 100,000 miles that is transferable. That's 40,000 miles of additional coverage! Land O' Lakes members can use their benefits through us or Land O' Lakes' website. Our experts can work with you on upfits and accessories your business needs. Lease or purchase financing is available. Fast, easy order process more GM has a program where those who qualify as Land O' Lakes members under the written agreement can receive very attractive discounts on purchasing new Chevrolets. At Donohoo Chevrolet, we are experts in utilizing the Land O' Lakes CAP program and getting members these discounts. GM considers the agreement with Land O' Lakes confidential, so we cannot divulge the information on our website but can share details with members that reach out to us. What are the qualifications? Land O' Lakes control Land O' Lakes membership eligibility, but if you are a member, we can steer you in the right direction on getting eligibility information. The CAP agreements will change from year to year at times to loosen or restrict eligibility under it. Such changes would generally apply to the next model year, so the 2022 model year could be looser than the 2023 model year on eligibility requirements, for example. Because of that, many should consider buying under the Land O' Lakes program on 2022 model year vehicles, of which we still have many. What are the discounts? Again, these agreements are confidential, so you need to contact us and let us know you are a Land O' Lakes member, and we can discuss the discounts. The difference between retail incentives and these are likely to be much higher on a 2022 model year than a 2023 model year as GM has reduced publicized incentives applied towards sales of fleet units with the supply chain issues limiting inventory GM can build. So when the 2023 model year agreement comes out, it would be logical that incentives could be lower for the 2023 model year. The 2022 model year agreement is set, though. But it will only last while 2022 model year vehicles are available. So even if the incentives are less exciting in the 2023 model year, they will likely exceed the retail incentives available to purchase the vehicle. What if I am just an individual and not a big company? Utilizing the program helps provide greater purchasing power for the program's future, as GM sees it as creating sales. Also, this program gives you more miles on the powertrain warranty. The vehicle is covered by a Limited Powertrain Warranty of 5 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. That exceeds the standard 5 years, 60,000 miles powertrain for retail purchases. If you are smaller, you often lack the purchasing size to qualify for a fleet account number with GM and receive fleet powertrain warranty benefits. Utilizing this program enables you to access those benefits. Why use Donohoo Chevrolet? PRICING: Most have found that our pricing on our vehicles has been very attractive compared to the competition. For example, our customers who buy Silverado Chassis Cabs from us see an average saving of over $10,000 from our competing dealers. In a time of inventory and pricing certainty, shopping with us gives you the peace of mind of a set and transparent price. SELECTION: We are one of the nation's largest and fastest-growing cab and chassis dealers. You can see our cab and chassis inventory on our On Order page ( link here). Cab and chassis units with an upfitted flatbed have been very popular with members. Our massive selection extends beyond Chassis Cabs, including hundreds of Silverado 1500 and 2500 units. Lithium vs Solid-State vs Hydrogen - What is the future of electric

While most consumers are driving and continue to drive gas vehicles, there are some companies, including GM, that would hurry the transition to electric cars. However, there are some issues with the adoption of electric vehicles. Currently, electric vehicles have a limited range of only three to four hundred miles, and they take much longer to charge than it would otherwise take to fill your car tank with gasoline. Once ranges can be extended and charging time significantly sped up, they will be considered more practical. The important question is, how far away are we from fixing these issues? In this blog, we'll be looking at different battery technologies currently in development, how close they are to being implemented, and the potential challenges each has that must be overcome. more Lithium batteries Unsurprisingly lithium-ion is the most common battery used in electric vehicles today. They are essentially scaled-up versions of the batteries found in consumer electronics. Instead of using a single unit like the one in your smartphone's battery packs, electric vehicles are made of thousands of lithium-ion cells. Those batteries give them a much greater capacity to provide enough energy to operate a large vehicle. Lithium batteries have a much higher energy density than traditional lead-acid or nickel-cadmium ones and are not only able to hold a larger charge but have a longer life span too. While you may be familiar with lithium as being the lightest of all metals, lithium-ion batteries don't actually contain any metal and instead contain lithium ions which can be manipulated to store or release the charge within the battery unit. There's a positive electrode normally made from a lithium compound, a negative electrode made from graphite, and a liquid electrolyte material that fills the rest. When an electrical charge is added to the battery, lithium ions move from the positive electrode to the negative one. Then when energy is released from the battery, they move in the opposite direction. Cons of Lithium Batteries: There are problems in using a battery of this design, the most dangerous of which is the risk of overheating, exploding, or even catching fire under certain circumstances. Electric vehicle manufacturers have had to invest heavily in developing features to reduce these dangers, making them safe for use on the roads. Features like including cooling mechanisms to regulate the battery's temperature help improve vehicle safety. Still, it will always be an ever-present risk because they contain liquid elements that undergo frequent temperature changes during regular operation. Another issue lithium batteries present is their usable life. In phones, for example, you only expect the battery to continue functioning for a year or two before its maximum charge cycles have been met. This only becomes a bigger problem when you make larger versions. Currently, most electric car manufacturers offer a guarantee that the battery will continue to work effectively for a minimum of eight years. Current estimates suggest that they should last between 10 and 20 years, but they will at some point need to be replaced. Of course, this has implications for the vehicle's resale value as it ages, but there are even bigger concerns for the waste this will produce. After trying to improve the situation for the environment by using an electric vehicle in the first place, the last thing you want to do is create batteries that will eventually end up in a landfill. Usability problems with lithium batteries are that they will always have a relatively limited range, and there's very little that can be done to increase the speed at which they can be charged. So while they're certainly suited to short-distance journeys, those who drive more than a few hundred miles at a time will be faced with extended charge times of up to an hour in some cases. That's a hard sell when traditional combustion engine vehicles only take a few minutes to refuel. There are, however, two other promising types of battery technologies that will eventually pass lithium-ion for vehicles of the future. Hydrogen Fuel Cells You may have seen that hydrogen-powered cars are already available, like the Toyota Mirai. While they aren't yet as prevalent as lithium power, they offer several advantages that mean they will likely become a viable alternative once enough infrastructure is available to operate them. From a user's perspective, they work similarly to gas-powered cars, which is one of their greatest advantages. The vehicle's tank is filled with liquid hydrogen, which is fed into a fuel cell with oxygen. The reaction that takes place within the cell converts the chemical energy contained within the hydrogen to mechanical energy to operate the car. The only waste product created in the process is water vapor. With the ability to refill a tank in just a matter of minutes and with a far greater range than lithium vehicles can offer in a single charge, there are several obvious benefits of using a hydrogen-powered car. Cons of Hydrogen Power There are, however, several disadvantages too. Not everyone is convinced this is a feasible technology for mass adoption, and various improvements will need to be made before large-scale use is possible. The first thing that needs to be addressed is simply the cost of building hydrogen fuel cells in the first place. For example, installing the required infrastructure, gas stations will need to offer pumps that dispense hydrogen—fuel, which will require a massive investment upfront. A particular concern is whether hydrogen-fueled cars have the energy credentials that consumers expect from an electric vehicle. They use, for example, an estimated three times as much energy to operate as lithium cars do for each mile driven. The energy that must come from somewhere and liquid hydrogen production is somewhat controversial. It's an element that doesn't exist in its liquid form in nature, so it must be manufactured, and more than 95 percent of the hydrogen created is done from natural gas. This means that fuel production releases just as many greenhouse gases and potentially even more than a traditional combustion engine. The technology is essentially moving the problem from one place to another. There are other ways to produce hydrogen, such as the electrolysis of water but this is currently so cost-intensive that it's nowhere near being realistic. For everyday use as fuel for a vehicle, demand for hydrogen would have to significantly increase to make it worthwhile. There's an element of a gamble involved in this technology. It is uncertain if zero immission hydrogen will become a thing or if companies like Toyota are willing to heavily invest in such a gamble. Solid-State Batteries Probably the most exciting development for electric vehicles is the solid-state battery. While not ready for mass adoption, solid-state will be a complete game-changer when it is. Samsung is currently leading the way with numerous companies jumping on board. By reinventing how a battery is made, engineers believe the range of an electric car can be doubled compared to its lithium alternative. Solid-state batteries have actually been in use for a long time in small devices such as pacemakers and RFID tags, but currently, it's impossible to recharge them. What's new is that they've designed a way that allows the movement of the ions within the battery to be reversed, which is needed to add extra charge to them. They've done this by changing the electrolyte used inside the battery. In lithium-ion batteries, the electrolyte is a liquid, while in a solid-state battery, the electrolyte is solid. This means the battery is the same power at about half the size. So manufacturers will have the option to double range or half battery size to reduce weight. For the most efficient vehicles, this could mean a range of up to 600 miles or more on a single charge, making most trips viable without having to schedule an hour to recharge midway. As a further advantage, researchers at Samsung also claim these batteries will have a longer usage life than Lithium-ion. They expect them to be able to be recharged more than 5,000 times before needing to be replaced. This gives each vehicle an operating life of more than a million miles before significant maintenance is required. They take up less space, but they're also far more stable and don't have a significant fire concern. Without the extra cooling surrounding them, solid-state batteries weigh significantly less. Solid-state batteries are safer because they don't contain any liquid parts, so even if they're punctured in a crash, there isn't the same risk of being further injured from their contents. Larger vehicle manufacturers have said that they see solid-state batteries as the future of electric vehicle technology. Toyota just announced a pretty major update on their solid-state battery technology. Solid-state isn't quite ready to be incorporated into designs on a mass scale, however, and probably won't be for several years. Researchers are still trying to find the perfect atomic and chemical compositions for the solid electrolyte that can deliver enough power for the reliable operation of a vehicle. In addition, the batteries that are on the market are still far too expensive to produce at a mass scale for commercial use. The most likely outcome is that solid-state batteries will first enter the luxury end of the market on vehicles that cost upwards of a hundred thousand dollars. However, once they've been proven to be effective and desirable, costs will eventually fall and become attainable within the price ranges of most consumers. With such attractive battery technologies on the horizon, the future of the automotive industry is undoubtedly electric. Avoiding a Tire Blowout

The first thing you should do to avoid a blowout is checking your tire pressure. Low tire pressure or incorrect tire pressure is the top cause of tire blowouts. Most new cars now have a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that will warn you if the pressure in your tires is too low. You should still check your tires for low pressure, especially during colder months when temperatures drop. In addition, you should replace worn tires and tires that have required patches in the past. It’s never a good idea to keep driving on old, worn tires, especially if the treads are worn down. You should be able to place a penny in between the treads to check if they’re worn down. If you can see Lincoln’s head after placing the penny, then you need to replace your tires soon. more Some tires do come with tread indicators that will tell you when to replace your tires as well. Do you need new tires? Stop by our Fort Payne, AL location and see the friendly tire service team at Donohoo Chevrolet. We can help diagnose any tire issues you have and find a new set of tires that will last for up to 10 years.

Goodbye Tribute to the Spark

It is official. There will be no more Sparks built after August 2022. Your last chance to get your desired order for a Spark will be in early June 2022. So, for those Spark fans out there, please reach out to us to get one of the last Sparks built. We know many readers read this and either roll their eyes or make a funny face. And, yes, we know the true fans of the Spark are limited – otherwise, why would it be getting canceled by Chevrolet. The Spark indeed was fun in our ordering discussions – which are sometimes a grind through the minutia of options and packages and black, white, and silver colors that provide the color in a black and white movie. Through the years, some of the colors have included Caribbean Blue, Toasted Marshmallow, Passion Fruit Metallic, Orange Burst Metallic, Raspberry Metallic, Mystic Blue, and Cayenne Orange. It was like picking out your own customized Skittles bag to place on the lot. more My favorite Spark is the Special Edition with the two-tone roof. Our sales staff mocked me for ordering the Special Edition, claiming that it looked like protective wrapping on the roof, bumper, and side mirrors that had not been removed. I personally liked the look. Much to the amazement of others, it sold. And quickly. Of course, it was during the pandemic when vehicles were hard to find, and a new vehicle with a sticker price of $17,990 was quite rare. Here is a picture of it. Do you like it as much as I do, or will you join the chorus of doubters? If you reach out to us in time, we can order this Spark for you. And we will sell it for $100 under MSRP, a pretty great deal for someone looking to buy a new vehicle to get around town and with good gas mileage. One of our managers joked that I would order a $39,995 MSRP Spark Special Edition V6 with Super Cruise and panoramic roof to memorialize my Spark obsession for the final order. (Don't be silly, I wouldn't leave off the spoiler wing.) If you would like an absurdly expensive Spark, the best I could do is a 2LT for $23,335. Here is a breakdown: $395 - Additional add for the Nitro Yellow color. $590 - Driver Confidence Package + Winter/Summer Floor Mats Package $1,100 - How about 15-inch wheels and red wheel inserts for $1,100? $1,000 - The sunroof (not panoramic but does have tilt and slide features with express-open and close that also includes dual reading lamps). $75 - A windshield and outside mirror cover protect this unique piece with SPARK across the cover. $235 - Chrome bodyside moldings to create style. $195 - Black bowties to show this vehicle is tough $75 - Wheel lock kit because you know someone wants to steal those 15s. $75 - Smoker's package for $75 because movie stars in old movies looked cool $155 - Sport pedal kit to give it the proper racing look $85 - Aluminum sill plates because I don't want scratches and scrapes $85 - All-weather cargo mat in case your groceries leak through the bag on the way home $75 - Cargo net, so said leaking groceries won't fall onto you when you open the hatchback That is everything. You have it all. Oh, I almost forgot. $100 - Engine Block heaters are not just for bad boy HD diesel trucks. All joking aside, in today's market with prices super high for everything, Chevrolet could sell A LOT OF SPARKS. But, of course, Chevrolet would likely lose money hand over fist by not devoting those precious semiconductor chips to more profitable vehicles like trucks and full-size SUVs. Spark, I will miss you for all of the fun you've created for us in ordering you. All of the bright colors you contributed to making our dealership's lot, mostly filled with black, silver, and white vehicles, look more exciting. I will miss you for the excited customer that bought a new car that may not have been able to afford one otherwise. Those customers loved buying you as much as some of those Corvette buyers loved buying the Corvettes, and you will be missed.

How to Reserve On Order

How to Shop Our On Order Page

We attempted to make shopping our On-Order page as easy as possible. This post will walk you through the basics and give you some simple how-to-search suggestions to make your life easier. So let's dive into it. We designed our On-Order page because inventory shortages have forced us to sell out of our scheduled inventory that has not been built yet. As a result, we know the vehicle's exact exterior color, interior color, engine, transmission, options, and so forth. The only things we don't know are things that are designated once the vehicle has been built, namely the VIN and MSRP. Those two items are pretty essential to advertise a car on our website, so we had to get a little creative. Our On Order page is that workaround. more For example, you are shopping for a Silverado 1500 High Country with Super Cruise. You notice that we don't have what you want on our traditional inventory pages, so you follow the link to our On Order page. From here, you can click the type of inventory you are shopping for. Since this example is for Silverado 1500s, you will click the Silverado 1500 On Order page. That will take you to a page that looks like this one. The top part discusses what an On Order vehicle is and why it is crucial to reserve it. The main reason to reserve is it guarantees you that exact vehicle and that exact discount. While we can't give you the final price from this page, you can figure out what incentives you qualify for and add our discount to them. That will provide you with a rough idea of how much your vehicle will be, and you can budget accordingly. Reserving your car will also allow us to lock in your incentives if your vehicle does not arrive before the end of the month. That is important for two reasons. First, if Chevrolet's rebates go down, you will pay the locked-in lower price. Second, if their rebates go up, we can just sell you the vehicle for the new lower price. It is a win-win for you. This applies to cash rebates only; unfortunately, we cannot lock in finance offers. Below is the example of the Silverado 1500 Limited. How to Read the On-Order Page Let's go back to our example. The Silverado 1500 On Order page can be a little overwhelming at first. Don't worry; it is easier to navigate than you think. Each Silverado 1500 is shown in its own box. There are seven rows in each box. Order # - This is the order number you give us to reserve your vehicle for you. It is a unique number like a stock number or VIN and will ensure you get exactly what you want. Vehicle - This line is an important one. It will show the year, model, drivetrain, and bed size. Exterior Color/Interior Color - Exactly what you think it is. You can also use the Interior Color to determine if the vehicle has leather or cloth seats. Trim - You can find the trim level and critical designations like Trail Boss on this row. Engine - You will find the engine's displacement and special designations like diesel or turbo on this row. Transmission - While we currently don't have any manuals, you can see what kind of automatic transmission is on the vehicle. Options - This is probably an important row once you know what you are looking for. We encourage you to reach out to us if you don't know what specific option packages have in them, but this row will help you narrow your search to the perfect vehicle. The pictures provided reflect the build of the actual vehicle. You will be able to ascertain the wheels, running boards, colors, and interior material. All On Order pages are filtered by descending trim level, but Silverado 1500s are further divided into two sections. The first section is the 2022 Silverado Limited. Think of the Silverado 1500 Limited as the 2021 Silverado 1500 that has been named a 2022. I know that is confusing, but here is a post to clarify what a Limited is. The second section is the updated 2022 Silverado 1500. These updated 2022 models have an entirely new interior and a slightly adjusted front bumper. How to Easily Search Since you are looking for a High Country with Super Cruise, the easiest way to search for that will be through an on-page search. You have the most straightforward method on a desktop or laptop. Hold down the Control (Ctrl) button and the F key. That will bring up a page search tool that will allow you to type in "Super Cruise." Use the pictures below as a guide to help you. Use Ctrl+F and type in what you are looking for. Works on all desktop and laptop browsers. If you are on a cell phone, it depends on your internet browser. If you are an iPhone user, you are probably using Safari. To search on Safari, go down to the share icon just below the URL. It will look like a box with an arrow pointing up. Click that button and scroll up until you see "Find on Page." Click that button, and it will open a text search. Type in "Super Cruise" and it will find every instance of the words you typed in. For Android users or if you use Chrome, the method is similar. Go to the share icon, again a box with an arrow pointing up. Click that button and scroll down until you find the "Find on Page." Click that and type in what you want to search. It will see whatever you type in, and you can use the up and down arrows to bounce between your results. I am trying to help you shop for yourself, but if you don't have the time or it is too much to go through, please give us a call. Our sales team is trained to look at our incoming inventory. We will help you find your next car and lock in a price you can be happy with. So why pay over MSRP at another dealership with you can lock in precisely what you want at below MSRP with us?
