How to Escape Negative Equity on Your Car Loan with a Chevrolet EV Lease

Being stuck with negative equity on a car loan can feel overwhelming, especially if your credit has taken a hit. Negative equity means you owe more on your car loan than the car is worth, sometimes called being "upside down" or "underwater." Things can get worse if you roll that negative equity into a new loan, leading to higher rates and longer repayment terms. Many people find themselves buried in debt, which can result in repossession or even personal bankruptcy. If you can’t afford to keep your current car and finish paying it off, switching vehicles might leave you in an even tougher spot. For example, if your credit score is around 650, financing a new car and the negative equity could result in a loan with rates over 10% for six years. But there’s a potential solution: a Chevrolet EV lease. Why a Chevrolet EV Lease Can Help GM Financial offers competitive money factors (low interest rates) on leases for eligible EVs. Eligible EVs include: 2024 and 2025 Blazer EV 2024 Equinox EV 2024 and 2025 Silverado EV This program allows you to bundle negative equity into a short-term lease at a much lower rate than traditional financing. Example: Leasing a 2024 Blazer EV Here’s how it works using the 2024 Blazer EV as an example: Base Lease Terms: Monthly payment: $379 (24 months, 10,000 miles/year, excluding taxes and title). Vehicle price: $48,972 (down from a $54,595 MSRP). Money factor: 0.00099 (equivalent to 2.38% APR). Impact of Credit Score: At a 620 credit score, typical financing would be over 10%. With GM Financial's A1 tier for conquest customers, the rate drops to 2.38% APR. Rolling in Negative Equity: GM Financial allows up to 110% of the MSRP to be financed. This means you can add up to $11,000 of negative equity to the lease. Reducing Your Monthly Payment Conquest and membership incentives can significantly lower your lease payment: $1,500 Conquest Incentive: Reduces the payment from $379 to $315.03. $1,000 Costco Member Rebate: Drops it further to $272.37. For 15,000 miles/year: Payment adjusts to $359.44 with both incentives. The Real Benefit: Clearing Negative Equity If you roll in $10,000 of negative equity: Payment with both incentives increases to $698.94 for 24 months. At the end of the lease, your negative equity is gone, as long as you stay within the mileage limits and return the car in good condition. Why This Works A Chevrolet EV lease lets you: Finance your negative equity at a low effective rate (2.38% APR). Spread payments over just 24 months. Drive a new EV at a reasonable cost while solving your debt problem. If you’re struggling with negative equity, this could be a way out while upgrading to a modern, eco-friendly vehicle. It’s a short-term solution with long-term benefits for your finances.

Navigating the Shift to Electric: Challenges and Opportunities for Automakers

The automotive world is undergoing a significant transformation, and automakers find themselves at a crucial juncture. The initial rush to embrace electric vehicles (EVs), driven largely by passionate early adopters, is now reaching a pivotal point. As the focus shifts towards the "early majority"—a more price-sensitive group—the challenges are becoming more pronounced. Axios highlights that these mainstream consumers are not easily swayed. Their hesitations arise from concerns about the higher costs of EVs compared to traditional gasoline vehicles, uncertainties surrounding the charging infrastructure, and a belief that more advanced models are on the horizon. The overarching sentiment seems to be: why invest in today's EVs when tomorrow's might be superior? more This consumer sentiment suggests that the trajectory towards a predominantly electric future might not be as swift or smooth as once anticipated. Reacting to these evolving dynamics, many automakers are recalibrating their strategies. They're revisiting pricing models and production targets, but their commitment to an electric future remains unwavering. Diving deeper, GM exemplifies the challenges of this transition. If a GM electric vehicle is on your radar, it's essential to understand the current landscape. A recent Reuters report revealed some production challenges faced by the automotive giant. GM's Chief Financial Officer, Paul Jacobson, addressed these during a J.P. Morgan investor conference. He highlighted battery module assembly as a key challenge, likely stemming from supplier-related issues, a sentiment echoed by CEO Mary Barra. The real-world impact of these challenges is evident in the Cadillac Lyriq's production. GM's ambitious projection in 2022 to produce 25,000 Lyriqs at their Spring Hill, Tennessee plant fell short. In the first half of this year, less than 2,400 units reached customers, primarily due to battery-related issues. Yet, with challenges come opportunities. The anticipation surrounding GM's upcoming EVs, like the Chevy Blazer EV, is palpable. As Chevrolet enthusiasts, we at Donohoo Chevrolet eagerly await these models and remain optimistic about what the future holds. To sum it up, the transition to a fully electric automotive landscape is not without its challenges. But as the industry evolves, one thing remains certain: at Donohoo Chevrolet, our passion for innovation and our commitment to our customers will always drive us forward.

2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500 HD: Enhanced Gas Transmission and Greater Display Capabilities

In 2019, Chevrolet rolled out its revamped Silverado 2500 and 3500 HD models, offering power and performance upgrades alongside a daring front-end design that raised quite a few eyebrows. With the mid-cycle refresh of the Silverado HD, Chevrolet stepped back from this audacious style, instead opting for a more subtle approach that mirrors the aesthetic of its light-duty models. Alongside these design changes, the 2024 Chevy Silverado HD models are packed with many interior enhancements where they were much needed. more Upgraded Gas Transmission, Power Enhancements Across the Board When introducing an updated truck, Chevrolet understands the importance of boasting enhanced power and hauling capacity. Keeping with this trend, the six-speed automatic transmission with the Silverado HD's standard 6.6-liter gas V-8 engine has been replaced with the Allison 10-speed, previously paired with the Duramax 6.6-liter diesel V-8. This change allows the gross combined weight rating of the gas V-8 HD to increase from 24,000 pounds to 26,000 pounds. The Duramax turbodiesel V-8 retains its Allison 10-speed transmission for the 2024 model but with more power on board. Changes to the engine's combustion process, which now boasts greater efficiency, result in an added 25 hp and 65 lb-ft of torque, culminating in 470 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque. This diesel engine can now be paired with the max tow package across all Silverado 2500 HD trims, increasing the towing capacity for trucks with this configuration to 22,500 pounds. The maximum towing capacity for the lineup remains 36,000 pounds for the appropriately equipped dual-rear-wheel 3500 HDs. A Rejuvenated Facade With a pronounced grille spear, the current Silverado HD design separates the headlights from the running lamps. The updated version, however, integrates these elements into a single unit. An elongated, curved LED accent light extends the truck's lighting vertically and frames the grille, with the primary lighting positioned high up, close to the hood's edge. Though the new design includes faux "intakes" under each headlight, the overall front-end look is much tidier than before. Not much change is noticeable in the rest of the exterior, although there are some fresh wheel designs and revamped taillight internals. For this 2024 update, Chevrolet wisely channeled its energy into refining the Silverado HD's interior, which had previously lagged behind other heavy-duty trucks, notably the Ram 2500/3500 pair and Chevrolet's light-duty 1500 counterpart. The updated Silverado HD now features a 13.4-inch central touchscreen across almost all trim levels and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Drawing on recent GM models, the Silverado HD boasts a revamped, horizontal button layout beneath the dashboard display. The switchgear appears more refined, even in photos. Though some of the buttons around the climate controls seem slightly fiddly, the physical controls for functions like seat heaters, defrost, and fan speed cannot be faulted. Chevrolet has also added air vents to the rear seat area, extra storage, a new center console with an optional wireless phone charger, and up to 10 cupholders. These updates predominantly apply to the LT, LTZ, and High Country Trim levels. The improved cabin, coupled with new technology, promises to make both commuting and towing more convenient. The HD models now offer adaptive cruise control for the first time, an option supplementing the standard forward collision warning, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and a following distance indicator. The adaptive cruise control can even function with a trailer attached, adjusting for the trailer's added weight and aerodynamic drag. The updated "Transparent Trailer" tech, enabling a rearview as if the trailer were "invisible," is now compatible with gooseneck and fifth-wheel trailers. The blind-spot monitoring function has also been optimized for use with a trailer attached. The Silverado HD continues to be available in WT, LT, LTZ, and High Country trim levels. Being the most luxurious, the latter will now offer a blacked-out Midnight Edition package for 2024. Adding to the exciting updates, Chevrolet will introduce an off-road-focused ZR2 trim to the HD lineup, aligning with the rugged ZR2 versions of the smaller Colorado and Silverado 1500 models. 2500ZR2

2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD ZR2

The 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500HD ZR2 is a heavy-duty truck that is designed to work hard and play hard. With beefy 35-inch mud-terrain tires, a lifted suspension, and spool-valve dampers, this truck is like an off-road semi-truck. It is the off-road pinnacle of the brand's heavy-duty truck lineup and comes with exclusive equipment, including a gigantic grille featuring the company's "flowtie" and ZR2 badges, different moldings around its wheel arches, and red front tow hooks. This fun-loving ZR2 joins the hard-working heavy-duty lineup and is only available on the 2500HD model configured with the crew-cab body style and standard-size cargo bed. Every Silverado 2500HD ZR2 boasts exclusive equipment, including a set of 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory M/T tires mounted on black 18-inch multispoke wheels, making them the first factory-installed 35-inch tires on a Silverado. These tires pair with Multimatic DSSV spool-valve dampers, exotic shocks that use three separate spool valves to withstand off-road abuse and aid on-road composure. more The ZR2 Bison, the offspring of Chevy's partnership with aftermarket supplier American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), comes with additional equipment that helps it survive bigger beatings. The Bison alone comes with steel-stamped front and rear bumpers with recovery points and a winch accommodation, and tough bash plates. Underneath the Bison, there are a set of AEV-specific 18-inch wheels painted in gloss black. While the Bison has a slightly steeper breakover angle than the regular ZR2, the opposite is true of their approach angles, where the AEV model peaks at 29.8 degrees compared with 32.5 degrees. Their departure angle is identical at 25.7 inches, and ground clearance is similarly close at 11.6—11.7 inches. Inside, the ZR2 benefits from updates included with the Silverado HD's recent refresh. The interior materials are easy to clean, and the leather-appointed seats and dark trim look handsome. There's a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster to go along with a 13.4-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, which also provides access to the surround-view camera system. The truck also has a large head-up display and a wireless charging pad on the full-length center console. With four-wheel drive and an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission as standard, buyers can choose between the base 401-hp gas-fed 6.6-liter V-8 or the optional Duramax diesel 6.6-liter V-8, which generates a substantial 470 horses and 975 pound-feet of torque. The gas engine supports 16,000 pounds of conventional towing and up to nearly 3400 pounds of payload. While the diesel has a higher tow rating (18,500 pounds), its payload capacity is capped at 3200 pounds. The 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500HD ZR2 is a perfect blend of hard-working and fun-loving, offering excellent off-road capability and powerful performance for all your work and play needs. BOLT EV Qualifies for the Used Tax Credit

If you're considering purchasing an electric vehicle (EV) in 2023, it might be worth looking into a used one to take advantage of the revamped federal tax credit up to $4,000. In this blog post, we'll go over what we know about how the Bolt EV qualifies for the used EV tax credit. The $7,500 federal tax credit has been extended for new EV purchases under revised qualifying terms, but those current requirements leave a very limited number of current EVs that qualify. Many automakers are already pivoting their business strategies to move EV and battery assembly to US soil to once again qualify, but it will take time to establish those facilities and get them up and running. In a perfect world for consumers, any and all used EV purchases would qualify for tax credits from the US government, but that's unfortunately not the case. As part of revised terms in the Inflation Reduction Act signed by President Biden, federal tax credits have been extended and include revamped benefits for used EV purchases, as long as they fit certain criteria. more To qualify as a customer, you must: Be an individual who bought the vehicle for use and not for resale Must be an individual (no businesses) Not be the original owner Not be claimed as a dependent on another person's tax return Not have claimed another used clean vehicle credit in the 3 years before the EV purchase date Modified adjusted gross income must not exceed $75k for individuals, $112,500 for heads of households, and $150k for joint returns Additionally, in order for a used EV to qualify for federal tax credits, it must: Have a sale price of $25,000 or less Have a model year at least 2 years earlier than the calendar year when you buy it Not have already been transferred after August 16, 2022, to a qualified buyer Have a gross vehicle weight rating of fewer than 14,000 pounds Be an eligible fuel cell vehicle (FCV) or plug-in EV with a battery capacity of least 7-kilowatt hours (kWh) Be for use primarily in the United States Purchased from a certified dealer A used vehicle qualifies for tax credit only once in its lifetime The Bolt EV from Chevrolet (GM) is an all-electric model that currently qualifies for the full $4,000 tax credit. As always, we recommend speaking with a tax professional and EV dealer directly to ensure what you and your new vehicle qualify for. Make/Model/Year(s) Full Tax Credit CHEVROLET (GM) Bolt EV (2017-2021) $4,000 Spark EV (2014-2016) $4,000 Whether it's a new or used EV purchase that ends up being right for you, you may still be able to take advantage of additional perks at the state level, depending on where you live. Credits, exemptions, and other benefits could be available for an EV purchase, lease, or relevant equipment like home charger installation. A used EV might be the way to go in 2023 to take advantage of the federal tax credit up to $4,000.  Make sure to do your own research and speak with a tax professional directly. Pros and Cons of Owning an EV

As we become more aware of the impact of climate change, the transportation sector is quickly becoming a key area of focus for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. One option for reducing emissions is to switch from gasoline-powered vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs). While EVs have some clear advantages over gas-powered vehicles, there are also some challenges to consider when deciding whether to switch. more Pros of owning an electric vehicle: Environmentally friendly: The most obvious advantage of EVs is their environmentally friendly nature. EVs produce no tailpipe emissions and have a much lower carbon footprint than gasoline-powered vehicles. This means that driving an EV can help reduce air pollution and mitigate the impacts of climate change. Lower operating costs: EVs have lower operating costs than gas-powered vehicles. The cost of electricity is generally much lower than gasoline, and EVs require less maintenance since they have fewer moving parts. In the long run, owning an EV can be more cost-effective than owning a gas-powered vehicle. Energy independence: EVs can help reduce reliance on oil and foreign oil imports, providing greater energy independence and reducing the risk of oil price shocks. EV owners can charge their vehicles at home, meaning they have greater control over their energy supply. Smooth and quiet ride: EVs are much quieter and smoother than gasoline-powered vehicles because they have fewer moving parts. This makes for a more comfortable driving experience. Tax credits: Depending on where you live, you may be eligible for federal and state tax credits and incentives for purchasing an EV. These incentives can help offset the higher initial cost of purchasing an EV. Cons of owning an electric vehicle: Limited range: EVs typically have a shorter driving range than gasoline-powered vehicles, so they may not be suitable for long road trips. However, the range of EVs is improving rapidly, and many models now offer ranges that can accommodate most daily driving needs. High upfront costs: EVs are often more expensive than comparable gasoline-powered vehicles. However, as battery technology improves and production volumes increase, EV prices are expected to continue to decline. Charging infrastructure: Depending on where you live, charging infrastructure may be limited, making it difficult to charge your vehicle on the go. However, this is also improving rapidly, and many cities and states are investing in charging infrastructure to support the growing number of EVs on the road. Charging time: It takes longer to charge an EV than to fill up a gasoline-powered vehicle, so you'll need to plan ahead if you're going on a long trip. However, this is also improving rapidly, and many newer EV models offer fast-charging capabilities that can significantly reduce charging times. Battery life and replacement costs: The battery pack in an EV is expensive to replace, and the battery's lifespan may be shorter than the life of the vehicle itself. However, as battery technology improves, battery lifetimes are expected to increase, and the cost of replacement batteries is expected to decline. Owning an EV has both pros and cons. While EVs are more environmentally friendly, have lower operating costs, and offer a smooth and quiet ride, they also have some challenges, such as limited range, high upfront costs, and charging infrastructure. However, as technology improves and infrastructure expands, the advantages of owning an EV will become even more compelling, making the switch to an EV an attractive option for many drivers. As an EV owner, I can easily recommend an EV as a second vehicle in a two-vehicle family. They make getting around town an absolute joy and extremely cost-effective. For single-car families, or those living in an apartment without a place to charge, the EV movement may have to wait until the technology improves. Shop Our EVs

AlumvsSteel

Cab Chassis - Aluminum Vs Steel Beds

Aluminum Advantages Aluminum is a versatile and lightweight metal that has become increasingly popular in transportation. Many truck owners are now choosing aluminum for their flatbeds because of its numerous advantages over traditional steel beds. In this article, we will explore the value of using aluminum for the metal in your flatbed on your truck. First and foremost, aluminum is incredibly lightweight. This is a significant advantage when it comes to hauling cargo. A lighter truck means a higher payload capacity, ultimately leading to more profits for your business. Moreover, the lighter weight of an aluminum flatbed translates into better fuel efficiency for your vehicle. By reducing the weight of your truck, you can save on gas expenses, which can be a considerable benefit for long hauls. In addition to its lightweight properties, aluminum is highly corrosion-resistant. Unlike steel, which is prone to rust and other forms of deterioration, aluminum is much more durable and resistant to the elements. This makes it a better choice for those who live in areas with high humidity, frequent rain, or salty air. An aluminum flatbed can withstand the test of time and provide many years of reliable service. Another advantage of aluminum is that it is easy to maintain. It doesn't require the same level of maintenance as steel, which can be time-consuming and costly. With aluminum, you can simply wash your flatbed regularly with soap and water to keep it clean and debris-free. Moreover, it doesn't require any painting or coating to prevent rust, which can save you a lot of money over time. Moreover, aluminum is highly customizable. You can have it fabricated in virtually any shape or size, making it an ideal choice for those requiring custom flatbeds. You can easily modify your aluminum flatbed to suit your needs and requirements, whether you need to haul heavy machinery, equipment, or oversized cargo. Aluminum can also be easily welded, so it can be repaired quickly and efficiently. more Finally, aluminum is an eco-friendly option. It is fully recyclable, meaning it can be reused and repurposed at the end of its lifespan. This makes it a more sustainable choice than other metals, which can take hundreds of years to decompose in landfills. By choosing aluminum for your flatbed, you are consciously trying to reduce your carbon footprint and protect the environment. There are many benefits to using aluminum for the metal in your flatbed on your truck. From its lightweight properties to its resistance to corrosion, ease of maintenance, customizability, and eco-friendliness, aluminum is an excellent choice for truck owners who need a durable and reliable flatbed that can withstand the test of time. If you are considering a flatbed for your truck, consider the value of using aluminum. Steel Advantages Steel has been a popular choice for truck flatbeds for many years due to its durability and strength. Although other materials, such as aluminum and composite materials, have become more common, steel still has many advantages for those who need a reliable and robust flatbed. We will explore the value of using steel for the metal in your flatbed on your truck. One of the primary benefits of steel is its strength. Steel is an incredibly durable material that can withstand much wear and tear. This makes it an excellent choice for flatbeds that will be used to haul heavy loads, machinery, or equipment. Steel is also resistant to bending and denting, which means it can handle the stress of frequent use without sustaining damage. Moreover, steel is readily available and widely used, making it a cost-effective option. Steel is a well-established material that is readily available from a variety of suppliers. Its popularity also means it is typically less expensive than other materials, such as aluminum or composite materials. If you are on a budget, steel is an affordable choice that still provides excellent value. Another benefit of steel is its toughness. It can handle harsh environments and extreme weather conditions without breaking down or corroding. This is particularly important for those who operate in areas with high humidity, rain, or saltwater. Steel can withstand these conditions without deteriorating, which means it will provide many years of reliable service. Moreover, steel is easy to maintain. It doesn't require any special coatings or treatments to prevent rust or corrosion, making it an easy material to care for. You can easily wash your steel flatbed with soap and water to keep it clean and debris-free. Also, steel is easy to repair in the event of damage, saving you money over time. Finally, steel is a customizable material. It can be fabricated into virtually any shape or size, which means it can be tailored to your needs and requirements. You can easily modify your steel flatbed to accommodate your cargo or to suit your preferences. This flexibility makes it a versatile choice for those who require a customized flatbed. Steel remains a reliable and robust choice for the metal in your flatbed on your truck. Its strength, cost-effectiveness, toughness, ease of maintenance, and customizability make it a valuable option for truck owners who need a flatbed that can handle heavy loads and harsh environments. If you are in the market for a flatbed, steel is certainly worth considering as a material for your truck bed. Our Selection of Beds Our selection of beds includes aluminum and steel. In that case, you can work with us to submit something to GM that will honor your rebates from this month, even if the vehicle arrives after this month. It’s a little like a rain check at the grocery store. You can’t mix rebates from November with rebates from December. It will be either the November set or the December set, but here is the good news. If December is better, you can use that! It is like a free option. But you must sign forms and work with us to lock in your price. Don’t worry; we make things painless. Any Restrictions on Cyber Cash? Only some of the models are eligible for using Cyber Cash. Our web page for Cyber Cash will list the eligible vehicles. https://www.donohoochevrolet.com/chevy-cyber-cash. We’ve got to be honest even when it isn’t in our favor – the claim code you get can be used with any Chevrolet dealer, so you could end up breaking our hearts. At the same time, if you have a claim code from another dealer, you could break its heart and fatten your wallet by buying with us! We scoured the program rules and found very few restrictions on combining this with other offers. Does it combine with… GM Discounted Affinity Programs like Military, Educator, First Responder, and College Student? Yes – Check! GM Employee and GM Supplier? Yes – Check! Costco? Yes – Check! Standard Rebates? Yes – Check! GM Financial Special APR Promotions? Yes – Check! (That is a common one you cannot combine, so that is good) Use with a lease? Yes – Check! Use if I am a national rental car company like Avis or Enterprise? No – let’s assume you aren’t buying on behalf of those guys.
