Cyber Cash Blog

Cyber Cash - Additional Cash when you Submit a Form

What is Cyber Cash? You may remember Cyber Cash from last year, but if you don’t, let’s do a primer on what Cyber Cash is and how to navigate it. If you are eager beaver and want to get your Cyber Cash right now, here is a link to our website where you can claim your code for it. https://www.donohoochevrolet.com/chevy-cyber-cash. Otherwise, read on to learn more. Cyber Cash is borne out of a marketing theme for Cyber Monday and online shopping during November as part of preparations for Christmas. GM is offering additional rebate cash in exchange for your engagement with them on who you are and how to reach you. more Why You Should Submit for Cyber Cash no matter what If you aren’t ready to buy a vehicle this month, no worries. Yes, the Cyber Cash claim code is only effective through 11/30/21, but by submitting for the Cyber Cash claim code, you are benefitting yourself for the near future beyond the end of November. Chevrolet is prone to provide private offers to those in the market for a vehicle, and these private offers includes rebates only applicable to those on the private offer list. By completing the Cyber Cash claim code, you can improve your odds of getting a private offer from Chevrolet as you clearly are in the market for a new vehicle. Additionally, you may find a vehicle that is eligible but has not arrived yet. You can go to our On Order page https://www.donohoochevrolet.com/newspecials.html where you can shop vehicles on the way. If you like the rebate offerings, including the Cyber Cash that is available, and want to protect yourself against the rebates decreasing or Cyber Cash going away, you can work with us to get something submitted to GM that will honor your rebates from this month in whole even for the later month in which the vehicle lands. It's a little like a rain check at the grocery store. You can’t mix rebates from November with rebates from December. It will be either the November set or the December set, but here is the good news. If December is better, you can use that! It is like a free option. But you have to sign some forms and work with us to get them. Don’t worry, we are gentle. Any Restrictions on Cyber Cash? Only some of the models are eligible for using Cyber Cash. Our web page for the Cyber Cash will list the vehicles that are eligible. https://www.donohoochevrolet.com/chevy-cyber-cash. We’ve got to be honest even when it isn’t in our favor – the claim code you get can be used with any Chevrolet dealer, so you could end up breaking our hearts and your wallet by buying at a different Chevrolet dealer. At the same time, if you have a claim code from another dealer, you could break its heart and fatten your wallet by buying with us! We scoured the program rules and found very few restrictions on combining this with other offers. Does it combine with… GM Discounted Affinity Programs like Military, Educator, First Responder, and College Student? Yes – Check! GM Employee and GM Supplier? Yes – Check! Costco? Yes – Check! Standard Rebates? Yes – Check! GM Financial Special APR Promotions? Yes – Check! (That is a common one you cannot combine, so that is good) Use with a lease? Yes – Check! Use if I am a national rental car company like Avis or Enterprise? No – let’s assume you aren’t buying on behalf of those guys.

Bolt Recall In Progress

Do You Know How to Check Your Bolt's Battery Recall?

Have you received your Battery Recall Notification? First of all, if you are one of our hundreds of Bolt customers that purchased new from us, thank you for taking the leap with us on GM’s EV products and learning how much fun these Bolts are to drive. Your blog writer personally owns a Bolt, and my wife an incredibly cool new model Tahoe, but I’d rather drive the Bolt. And that isn’t a knock on the new Tahoe, which is excellent. I love my Bolt that much. So all of you that have been patient with GM, I’d guess you are showing a lot of patience because you love your Bolt as well. more Great news for 2017-2019 owners out there! The battery recall is opening gradually as the battery supply increases, and once you are eligible for the battery replacement to be completed, your recall bulletin will change from 212343880 to 212343881. Once that occurs, your Bolt should be eligible for us to order your battery replacement. For all of you with 2017s and 2018s, your range will be 259 miles instead of 238 miles with the new battery. And all of you will get an 8 year / 100,000 miles battery warranty (whichever comes first). When you go to https://experience.gm.com/ownercenter/recalls or check for recalls on your vehicle with your Chevrolet app, you will see the following if you are eligible. How does the process work? Step 1 is to reach out to us to confirm your battery can be replaced. Then step 2 is to arrange for your Bolt to arrive, and we can provide you with a loaner to drive. Once we receive your Bolt, we will order you a battery pack, which will take just 2-3 days to arrive. You may ask why you have to have the vehicle to us before we order the battery. It is because GM is very particular about tracking the batteries. With so many Bolts to replace compared to available batteries right now, it is only fair to send batteries to shops where the battery can for sure be installed right away. Think of it like a restaurant that won’t seat you until everyone in the party has arrived. Once we get the battery, so long as we don’t have too many customers getting battery replacements at once, the job is usually done within a day or two. We also need the vehicle before the battery is ordered because the car cannot be charged within 24 hours of the battery replacement, so getting it here before the battery gets here makes sure we can meet that. Why come to us? We have already done 11 battery replacements as of 11/8/21, with more scheduled. Our dealership is one of the top-selling dealers of EVs in the Southeast, and our service department was the first to perform a replacement in the Southeast region. You can see cool photos of the battery and its replacement here - https://www.donohoochevrolet.com/blogs/3987/bolt-recall-update-batteries-incoming. We understand Bolt customers, and we are invested in the EV future. We also have multiple technicians trained to complete the battery replacement. In addition, we have loaner vehicles, which is not common these days amongst dealers. Some of you may be in Huntsville, Chattanooga, Atlanta, or Birmingham metro areas. If you are, you can likely get to us on a full charge. If you are not, you can go to a dealer within a full charge’s drive of you if you can find a dealer that can complete Bolt recalls (not all are). This link from Chevrolet will enable you to search for EV dealers near you. https://www.chevrolet.com/electric/dealer-locator. We’d love for you to come to us, but we realize that isn’t always possible. If you want to use us, give us a call, and let’s see how we can help arrange it. Complete the contact form and add your VIN into the comments to submit something to us. https://www.donohoochevrolet.com/contactus.aspx What if I am not eligible? Keep being patient. GM is releasing more VINs each week. If you would like us to help monitor, complete the contact form and add your VIN into the comments to submit something to us https://www.donohoochevrolet.com/contactus.aspx, and we will give you another set of eyes. If you install the Chevrolet app on your phone, that can notify you on the recall status. You saw above what the recall will look like in the GM Recall Center. Below is what you see when your vehicle is not eligible yet.

Bolt Battery Recall

Bolt Recall Update - Batteries Incoming

For those waiting for the batteries to start shipping on Bolts needing the recall for the battery replacement, that time has come. At Donohoo Chevrolet, we were the first dealership in the Southeast region to perform the battery replacement on a Bolt. As one of the top sellers of Bolts for several years, we are excited to get to work on replacing batteries for our Bolt customers and our new and used Bolts in inventory. We have included some photos taken during the battery replacement. Typically, it would not involve this many different people you will see in the photos, but our entire service staff took a keen interest in the recall repair. We came away impressed at the simplicity of the battery replacement as it was very plug and play when removing and reinstalling the batteries. more Step by step process of unboxing the new batteries and installing them. GM will send you a notice when your Bolt is eligible to have its battery replaced. With the many thousands of Bolts out there, it would be physically impossible to get all batteries out for customer repair at once. If you would like our service department to complete this recall repair, please contact us and provide your information and VIN. You will need to get the Bolt to us in Ft Payne, AL, but outside of that, we welcome helping any Bolt customers we can. Our sales and service team has unmatched experience with Bolts through our high sales volume, so you can feel confident working with a dealership that is "all in" on the EV future for Chevrolet. Some of you are still interested in getting an EV. The value of these existing Bolts is improved with the 8 year / 100,000 miles (whichever comes first) warranty on the installed battery from the installation date! In addition, 17 and 18 model year Bolts get a newer battery that means the 259 miles range instead of the 238 miles range that existed before. If you are interested in our used Bolts, you can shop our used inventory here. There will be three groupings for these Bolts. GROUP 1 Some will be Bolts, where the battery replacement cannot be done yet, are waiting for clearance from Chevrolet. So the top of the first picture will say "Stop Sale - Battery Not Available." GROUP 2 Some will be Bolts where the battery replacement can be done, but we have not completed it because we have many to do and won't get them all done right away. The top of the first picture will say, "Battery Available - Reserve Now." GROUP 3 Some Bolts will get finished, and we will be able to sell them right away. One of the pictures in the listing for the vehicle will have a COMPLETE stamp across it. The top of the first picture will say "Recall Complete." If you want to reserve one of these used vehicles, reach out to us to do so. On Group 1, we will reserve the vehicle for you and notify you when the battery can be ordered and replaced. At that point, we will prioritize completion as best as possible to enable you to purchase the Bolt. In Group 2, we will need to order the battery and schedule it for replacement. We ask for ten days to allow for scheduling and Chevrolet delivery of the battery to us. We think that will be an adequate amount of time to cover it, but it could happen sooner or later depending on whether the battery is available or on backorder. Finally, in Group 3, you can purchase immediately since the vehicle has been completed. You will notice many of the used vehicles are manufacturer buybacks. We will note in our picture where the Bolt was repurchased SOLELY because of the battery recall issues. That means there were no repair gremlins as the reason for Chevrolet repurchasing it, just dissatisfaction with the recall outstanding. Chevrolet went above and beyond to try to make its Bolt customers happy. When looking at these used Bolts, take note that when comparing this to another ICE (internal combustion engine) like a Civic. You are comparing a super reliable electric motor plus 8 year / 100K warranty battery to a similar mileage ICE vehicle transmission and engine with way less warranty than the Bolt battery. For similar ICE vehicles at these prices, you will likely see mileage outside of manufacturer powertrain coverage. However, if you can get comfortable with the charging and range, these Bolts have tremendous value. And if you have ever driven one, it is certainly way more fun to drive than a Civic. We also have many new Bolts in the same situation as the used Bolts. We will show them on our on-order page for Bolts – click here. You can reserve one of them and get notified once battery replacement is possible on them.

2022 Silverado 1500 Limited Coming – Embrace the Confusion

Get ready to be confused, but hopefully, we can shed some light on the changes coming to the 2022 Silverado 1500. GM is doing something a little unusual. They will be producing the current Silverado 1500 and the new mid-cycle enhancement (MCE) Silverado 1500. This effectively means there will be two different versions of a 2022 Silverado 1500. Those of you with a keen eye may have noticed that having two different versions of a 2022 Silverado 1500 could be confusing. The good news we are here to help. more DIFFERENCE ON LIMITED Please think of the Limited as GM extending the production of the 2021 version because it was so popular. The reality is that COVID caused issues in the progression of the mid-cycle enhancement so they are extending the 2021 out further through the 2022 Limited to bridge the gap between the 2021 and enhancements for the 2022. So there are some changes between the 2021 model year and the 2022 Limited that you should know about. There are two notable differences. First, the Custom Trail Boss is no longer available with a 5.3L V8. Instead, it only comes in either the 2.7L Turbo or the 6.2L V8. Second, the MSRP on a 2.7L starts at $44,895 that includes the package discount for the 2.7L Turbo engine. That is notably cheaper than a Custom Trail Boss with the 5.3L V8 on the 2021 model year. The second difference is the introduction of the 3.0 diesel in the LT Trail Boss. This engine was not available for the 2021 model year LT Trail Boss. We have ordered plenty of the 2.7L Turbo Custom Trail Bosses and the 3.0 Diesel LT Trail Boss. You can go here to see all of our Silverado 1500s, 2021, and 2022 Limited on order. While not a concern yet, when you search for Silverado 1500s, you will eventually see the MCE 2022 Silverado 1500s alongside the 2022 Silverado 1500 Limited. The Limited will have LTD in the search bar at the end of the Silverado 1500 name – Silverado 1500 LTD. You can see an example what it would look like to shop for a Limited and "normal" Silverado below. 2022 SILVERADO 1500 MCE If you would like to read more about the mid-cycle enhancement 2022 Silverado 1500, see these two blog posts we did about the ZR2 and the changes you will see in MCE, and second, the engine changes being made on the 2.7L Turbo and the 3.0 Diesel. These changes will ONLY be seen on the MCE version, not the 2022 Silverado 1500 Limited. So when you read about changes to engines and improvements in the interior to the 2022 Silverado 1500, do not think Limited – that is a 2021 with minor changes. We will start ordering the new 2022 Silverado 1500 MCE in January 2022 if all goes to plan. That means we will see the MCE version hitting our lots sometime in Spring 2022. So if you have interest in a new ZR2 or other 2022 MCE versions, reach out to us to put a deposit on ordering one.

2022 Silverado 1500 Engine Options

Chevrolet has some significant changes planned for the 2022 Silverado 1500. If you haven't seen the update, I encourage you to click the link above to see the new interior for LT and above trims. In this blog, I am going to discuss the truck's upcoming powerplant lineup. Overall, the 2022 Silverado engine lineup has four engines, three of which are gas, and the fourth is a turbo-diesel Duramax. more 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Engine Lineup Engine 2.7L Turbo I4 5.3L V8 6.2L V8 3.0L I6 RPO Code L3B L84 L87 LM2 Aspiration Turbo Atmospheric Atmospheric Turbo Fuel Type Gasoline Gasoline Gasoline Diesel Configuration DOHC OHV OHV DOHC Transmission 8-speed automatic 10-speed automatic 10-speed automatic 10-speed automatic Drivetrain 2WD/4WD 2WD/4WD 4WD 2WD/4WD Power (hp @ rpm) 310 @ 5,600 355 @ 5,600 420 @ 5,600 277 @ 3,750 Torque (lb-ft @ rpm) 420 @ 3,000 383 @ 4,100 460 @ 4,100 460 @ 1,500 Fuel Management AFM DFM DFM - Max Towing Capacity (pounds) 9,500 11,200 13,300 13,300 Availability Work Truck S A - - Custom S - - - Custom Trail Boss S - A - LT S A - A RST S 1 A 2 A - LT Trail Boss - S A A ZR2 - - S - LTZ - S A A High Country - S A A 1. However, the turbocharged 2.7-liter engine receives a significant upgrade that showcases its higher torque. In addition, all engines are paired with either GM's 8-speed automatic or the 10-speed automatic transmissions. Look at the chart above. You should notice some engine pairings are no longer allowed. For example, the 2022 Custom Silverado can no longer be equipped with the 5.3L V8. However, the Custom Trail Boss gained the option to add the 6.2L V8. Likewise, the LT cannot have the 6.2L V8 but gained access to the 3.0L Duramax. We have orders for most of these combinations and can guide you through navigating these changes. Check out our on order page or give us a call to see what is on the way. Turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B High Output For those familiar with the 2019-2021 version of this engine, you will know that it managed 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque. The 2022 version has seen an upgrade. It can now deliver 420 pound-feet of torque, has a more rigid cylinder block casting, and a stiffer crankshaft. "The new 2.7L Turbo is a technological marvel, with our most advanced valvetrain," said Tom Sutter, chief engineer for the 2.7L Turbo. "With a broad, flat torque curve and quick throttle response, it punches above its weight, delivering surprising performance and efficiency." GM says that the high output of the 2.7L outperforms any base engine in its class and has a maximum trailering rating of 9,600 pounds. The 2.7L is paired with the 8-speed automatic, which has also seen some tweaks. GM thinks the pair will offer smoother shifting, along with quicker downshifts, for a greater feeling of refinement and power on demand. 5.3L V8 L84 EcoTec3 The 5.3L is the busiest of all of GM's engines. It can be found in the Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Yukon XL, Escalade, Escalade ESV, and the Silverado and Sierra. The current 5.3L was launched in the 2019 Silverado 1500 and introduced Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) to the market. While the smallest V8 GM produces, the naturally aspirated engine manages 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. The 5.3L is paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission. 6.2L V8 L87 EcoTec3 The 6.2L gasoline engine is the largest gas engine produced by GM. It delivers 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Just like the 5.3L engine, it also has DFM. It is also the only engine choice available for the all-new 2022 Silverado ZR2 that debuted with the refreshed 2022 Silverado. The 6.2L will always be paired with the Hydra-Matic 10-speed automatic transmission. 3.0L I6 LM2 Turbo-Diesel Duramax The 3.0L Duramax engine is used in full-sized half-ton pickup trucks and SUVs. Lovingly nicknamed the baby Duramax the engine was introduced on the 2019 Silverado 1500. Rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, it has the highest torque rating of any Silverado engine. The copious amounts of low-end torque make this engine ideal for towing duties. Yet, somehow the engine also managed impressive fuel economy. While official numbers are not out for the 2022 yet, the 3.0L Duramax earned 27 mpg highway and 21 mpg city when equipped on the 2021 Suburban. The 3.0L Duramax is paired with the same 10-speed transmission as the 6.2L.

On Order - 300 Vehicles

We Have Over 300 Vehicles...On Order

We have over 300 vehicles that have been ordered and are in line for production. That just means that the vehicle has not been produced yet, but will be soon. During this time of extreme inventory shortages, you are best served by dealerships that are committed to selling a vehicle at a fair price. Not all dealerships are created equal. We have over 300 vehicles in line for production, most do not. The reason is simple – we are continuing to sell vehicles at attractive pricing, and GM rewards us with more inventory. NOTE: This inventory is IN ADDITION to the inventory built and showing on our website listings – click here to see those units. more Here is a breakdown of our on-order vehicles as of 10-12-21. 15 Blazer 9 Camaro 63 Silverado HDs Crew Cab 4 Silverado HDs Double Cab 4 Silverado HDs Regular Cab 100 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab 16 Colorado 21 Equinox 9 Suburban 61 Tahoe 10 Traverse 3 Trax 7 Trailblazer If you don't know how to shop our On Order Vehicles, here is a blog post explaining how it works. It is extremely easy and straightforward. If you have any questions please reach out to us. We would be happy to help. Click any of the pictures below to shop our On Order selection.

How to Reserve On Order

How to Get the Exact Vehicle You Want - Even During this Inventory Shortage

If you have been shopping for a new vehicle for any time, you will have noticed that there isn't much out there. Chevrolet, in particular, is hurting from supply challenges. We would have over 300 new vehicles at our dealership in past years, with hundreds more in production or on the way. Today, we have less than ten at our dealership. The good news is we have hundreds that are in production! You can reserve the vehicle you want and lock in our below MSRP price. However, that does mean changing how you would shop our website, and this blog will teach you how. more To view our On-Order vehicles go to our website, hover over the Specials tab, and select the New Specials option. You will see a page showing different models. Click the model that you are most interested in shopping for. You will find a web page that looks like the one below. Before you freak out and think this looks like too much, let me simplify things for you. The top line is the Order Number. Think of the Order Number as an identifier for the vehicle. We are using an Order Number instead of something like a Stock Number or VIN because the vehicle has not been produced yet. Notice that there is no price on these vehicles. That is because the MSRP of the vehicle is not officially set until the vehicle is invoiced. GM does increase the MSRP of a vehicle within a model year at times. Therefore, we can discuss pricing at a difference to MSRP, but the MSRP will need to be finalized before a price is finalized for you. With GM’s rebate protection program, we can lock in the rebate structure on a vehicle for you as well. So we can price out a good portion of the vehicle with the only risk being the MSRP change that may occur with Chevrolet. The following line is Vehicle. You will find the model year, model, and, if applicable, drivetrain information. The drivetrain is 4 wheel drive (4WD), 2 wheel drive (2WD), all-wheel drive (AWD), rear-wheel drive (RWD), and front-wheel drive (FWD). Exterior color and interior color are on the next line and should be straightforward. Chevrolet likes to use complex-sounding colors to describe their color options, but a quick google search should show you what to expect. The interior color will also inform you whether or not the vehicle has a leather or cloth interior. Trim includes the Trim Level and the Preferred Equipment Group. Chevrolet's Trim Levels are entry to high end and in order are WT, LS, Custom, LT, RST, Z71, LTZ, Premier, and High Country. Not every model will have every trim, but this should give you an idea. Unfortunately, specific options are not available at lower trim levels. On the Blazer and Traverse page you will notice this line includes an option for both Blazer and Traverse. Don't worry, this is a decoding thing GM does, just reference the Vehicle line to verify you are looking at the right model. Engine will only show the engine included on the vehicle. Transmission will only show the transmission included on the vehicle. The last thing we show is the Options on the vehicle. We did our best only to show options that are relevant to customers. This will include most options or packages included on the vehicle, but a few may be left out. If you have any questions about what a specific package includes or want to know the complete list of options a vehicle has, please reach out to us. Additionally, you can learn about the options in a trim or a specific package by building out the vehicle on Chevrolet.com. Our options should be really, really close in nomenclature to the options on Chevrolet.com. Once you find the car you are interested in, reach out to us through the contact form on the webpage or give us a call. To help us find the vehicle in which you are interested please have the model and order number on hand. We will help you place a deposit and keep you up to date through the production process. Once the vehicle lands, we will schedule a time for you to drive it and take delivery. Finally, as a top-selling dealer in the state, we get a decent volume of ordering allocation to place orders with Chevrolet. By reaching out to us, you can explore utilizing a retail sold order process to get your vehicle ordered. And, at that time we can lock in the MSRP of the vehicle at ordering with it being a sold order! Thank you for being understanding during these weird times, and we look forward to working with you!

October Deals

Ranking October's Deals

E dit: Deals are out of date. See updated deal rankings by following this link. Due to the ongoing supply issues in manufacturing creating too few vehicles in the market, Chevrolet has backed off on its incentives, so getting a good deal will depend on choosing a dealer who wants to move inventory. The good news is you are at the right place. more Costco Auto Program - Save an additional $1,000 if you are a member. Let me start this month off by promoting Costco. If you are a current Costco member - your membership had to start before September 30th - you qualify for an additional $1,000 on all but a few Chevrolet vehicles. I hate that I have to do this but be aware of how a dealer can take advantage of the Costco incentive. Our prices are set and on our website long before you ever interact with us. That means when you tell us you are a Costco member, we give you the extra $1,000, and you go home happy. Some dealers, who do not operate on a fixed price, could change their selling price to capture additional profit. If you are working with a dealer that does not have a set price, I recommend getting a sales proposal before letting them know you are a Costco member. We will be from a decent amount to a little below MSRP on multiple vehicles while many competitors are over MSRP by a lot. There is no catch. We are a high-volume dealer who can afford to offer a good deal because we get adequate inventory. We wrote a blog post on pricing and MSRP. Click here to read more. We want to stay at MSRP and below as long as the market or supply issues don't deteriorate to the point we believe we have to change. Now on to the deal rankings! Quick tip to help you read this. We give our customers all available incentives and our Donohoo discount to provide you with our best price. So when you see something say $5,000 off MSRP, that is usually a mix of Chevrolet incentives and our additional discount. Silverado 1500 - Shop Inventory – Shop On Order We are offering 2021 Chevrolet Silverado Trail Bosses at up to $5,000 off MSRP. This is a ridiculously good deal compared to what is out there. For example, some dealers are charging over $9,000 ABOVE MSRP on their Trail Bosses. With us, you save up to $5,000 and can save an additional $1,000 for a total of $6,000 if you are a Costco member. These things sell right when they arrive, so I suggest shopping from our On-Order page. You can reserve a vehicle that is on the way. Tahoe and Suburban - Shop Inventory – Shop On Order Our Tahoe and Suburban inventory are set at $100 off plus the potential Costco $1,000. That might not sound like a lot, but some dealers ask for over $7,500 ABOVE MSRP. Look at this screenshot. I won't say which dealer it is, but you can get an idea of what to watch for. We expect the inventory shortage to continue well into 2022. So if you are in the market for a Tahoe or Suburban, shop our On-Order page to make sure you get the one you want. Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD - Shop Inventory – Shop On Order Like everything else on this list so far, this is a good deal by relativity. I have seen dealers asking for over $7,500 ABOVE MSRP on their HD inventory. Our $100 off with an option to increase it to $1,100 off with Costco is the best deal around. Camaro - Shop Inventory – Shop On Order Chevrolet has dramatically reduced the number of Camaros they have built in the last couple of years, which is great for resale value. As a result, used Camaro prices are solid, and that helps with purchasing a new Camaro. Given the market, $250 off MSRP is a good value for a Camaro. Colorado - Shop On Order Check out the on-order Colorados here. Unfortunately, we don't have any units on the ground, but we have a number on order. You can order from us or shop around. As long as you don't pay above MSRP for a Colorado, you should be ok. The Colorado holds its value well used. Traverse, Blazer, Trailblazer, Equinox, Malibu, and Trax – Shop Blazer/Traverse On Order – Shop Equinox/Trailblazer On Order – Shop Trax On Order – Shop Malibu On Order Like last month, rebates are NOT very high, but inventory is meager. It is a seller's market. The plus side is that the used market value for these is high, but no one knows if that will be transitory. Be thorough shopping for these vehicles to make sure you get the best deal available. We expect used car prices to stay high, at least for the next few years. So with that in mind, as long as you don't pay outrageous market-adjusted prices, you should be ok to buy right now. But, unfortunately, we know most people don't have the luxury to wait over a year to buy their next vehicle. Becoming a Costco Member Could Save You $1,000

Like clockwork, every fourth quarter GM runs a Costco Auto Program discount, and like clockwork, we get customers wanting to take advantage of it but cannot. Let’s go through a little history. SUPPLIER PRICING WITH COSTCO Until 2020, the Costco Auto Program enabled you to get GM Supplier Pricing. As it happened, our pricing was normally below supplier pricing, but you could get a Costco cash card of $300 or $700, depending on your membership level. And because it was a Supplier Pricing-based discount program, you couldn’t combine it with the Educator, Military, College, First Responder, or Healthcare (that group is now known as an Affinity Discount) discounts that were also Supplier Pricing based discount programs. more Then, in 2021, things changed. GM eliminated Costco as a Supplier Pricing-based discount program and changed it to a straight rebate program. For example, it would be $1000 of the rebate, and it would combine (be stackable) with the Affinity Discounts. This year, GM changed the Affinity Discounts to be straight cash rebates instead of pricing programs, and though you cannot combine two different Affinity Programs (Educator and Military), you can combine an Affinity program and a Costco discount. At least that was the case in June when GM last ran a Costco discount program. In our opinion, this is much better. You could not combine Costco with GM Employee or GM Supplier programs in the past. You can now. This was an obstacle to many in the past to use Costco membership to save money. It seems to have been removed. 2021 Q4 COSTCO HAPPENING? We cannot say for certain GM will do a Costco Auto Program in Q4, but it has for several years in a row, and our opinion is that we would be very surprised if it did not come back in Q4 of this year. In spite of the excellent demand and low supply, GM did Costco earlier this year, so we do not think current market conditions are an obstacle. Historically, the Costco Auto Program rebates have been $1000 and even higher for Bolts at as much as $3000. Let’s assume for a minute that history is a guide. Then you should expect a $1000 rebate on popular expensive models like Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, and perhaps Colorado. That has been the pattern. Big Disclaimer: GM will do what it wants to do on this, so nothing is for certain on these numbers. WHAT IS THE GOTCHA? GM and Costco do not allow you to become a Costco member on October 21 as an example, and take advantage of the Q4 program. You MUST be a member as of September 30 to avail yourself of these discounts. Additionally, there have been pop-up Costco programs run on an ad hoc basis for a month in the last couple of years, but you have to be a member by the end of the previous month of the month it is announced. This is where spending $60 per year on a Gold Membership at Costco could result in savings. It would take almost 17 years of memberships to eat away $1000 of rebate. So, if you bought one Chevy in 17 years, paid Costco memberships every year, and used a $1000 rebate, you would be even. That should be pretty easy to be ahead of as most people buy vehicles more often than every 17 years. So, it is good to maintain a base-level membership in Costco to be able to take advantage of the large rebates on offer when the time comes and you happen to be in the market for a Chevy! If you are not a Costco member, become one by 9/30/21 so you are prepared for Q4 of this year should Chevy offer Costco Auto Program rebates and should you be ready to buy a new Chevy.

Silverado ZR2

Just Announced - 2022 Silverado ZR2 and Interior Update

It took Chevrolet a few years, but they finally got around to designing a proper, off-road truck. The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 is more than just a new option buildout. It is the flagship for a whole new refresh for the Silverado lineup. Among the things improved are the powertrain capability, interior design, and of course offroad capability. more The ZR2 features a Multimatic DSSV spool-valve shocks and matched springs. Like the Trail Boss, the truck has a 2-inch lift, but the ZR2 has more suspension travel. The ZR2 will have front and rear locking differentials, skid plates, and 33-inch tires. That gives the ZR2 a ground clearance of 11.2 inches. The front bumper has been redesigned for better approach angles, and the exhaust tips have been moved forward to prevent damage off-road. The ZR2 comes in only one configuration for now: crew cab and the 6.2-liter V8 with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The engine makes 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. There are also some fun touches like the Flow Tie badge, additional grille lighting, black hood insert, and unique wheels. It is obvious the ZR2 was designed to go after Ford's Raptor. Check out Autoblog's comparison if you want to see how the truck stacks up for Ford and Ram's off trucks. While we are excited about the ZR2, we are even more excited about the changes coming to the Silverado. The completely revamped interior offers a crisp, tight-fitting dash with a huge, well-integrated screen and stylish knobs and buttons. The 13.4-inch infotainment screen and 12.3-inch instrument display come standard in LT trims and above. A console-mounted electronic shifter is also introduced for trucks with five-passenger seating. Six passenger models maintain a column shifter. The High Country gets additional flair in the form of genuine open-pore wood trims, perforated leather, and contrast stitching and embroidery. Unfortunately, trim levels below LT will still have the current dash and smaller infotainment system. All 2022 Silverados now come standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, and automatic high beams. In addition, the High Country is available with Super Cruise and is the only trim you can get it in. Previous Silverado options like the trailering assist systems and the multifunction tailgate will still be available. We just learned about the newly announced revamped 2022 Silverado 1500. We will post further updates when we know more. Reach out to us if you want to reserve a future ZR2 or Silverado with the updated interior.

Chevrolet Deals: Rating the deal offerings for September

Edit: Deals are out of date. See updated deal rankings by following this link. September deals are about what you would expect from a company struggling to keep up with demand due to a crippled supply chain. However, that doesn't mean there aren't some good deals. We will walk you through this month's sales. Quick tip to help you read this. We give our customers all available incentives and our Donohoo discount to provide you with our best price. So when you see something say $5,000 off MSRP, that is usually a mix of Chevrolet incentives and our additional discount. more There is an unusual incentive this month offering a $1,000 accessory allowance. We don't think this is a great incentive. You have to give up $500 customer cash (meaning your final price goes up $500) to qualify. You must spend at least $1,000 on accessories, and not all accessories qualify. The allowance doesn't cover labor or tax. We think the customer cash is what most people should choose unless there is an accessory you have to have that costs over $1,000. The Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado 1500, Heavy Duty, and Colorado qualify for the accessory allowance. Silverado 1500 - Shop Inventory - Shop On Order We are offering 2021 Chevrolet Silverado Trail Bosses at up to $6,000 off MSRP. In this market, that kind of deal is almost impossible to find anywhere else. So why are we doing this? Well, they are for sale at $48,605 and have an MSRP of $54,605. What is a little unusual about these Trail Bosses is they have cloth interiors. So if you are looking for a truck with a cloth interior, you better jump on these deals before they are gone. If you want leather, we can install it for an additional $1,500. Shopping for Trail Bosses can be confusing. Check out our shopping guide here. Tahoe and Suburban - Shop Inventory - Shop On Order The large SUV market continues to be one rife with shortages. However, our price of $600 off MSRP is one of the best around. Please read our blog about why dealers are adjusting their prices above MSRP to learn more. Also, if you see a Tahoe or Suburban online or on order, please let us know as soon as possible. These vehicles won't last long. We are finally getting some with the Luxury Package, check out our blog to learn more. Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD - Shop Inventory - Shop On Order Like the Tahoe and Suburban, our $600 off price tag makes this month's sale very strong. There is a national shortage of trucks, and we have a decent number in stock or on order. We still expect inventory to be tight for a long time to come, so if you see what you want, please jump on it. Camaro - Shop Inventory - Shop On Order Chevrolet has dramatically reduced the number of Camaros they have built in the last couple of years, which is great for resale value. Traverse, Blazer, Trailblazer, Equinox, Malibu, and Trax - Shop Blazer/Traverse On Order - Shop Equinox/Trailblazer On Order - Shop Trax On Order - Shop Malibu On Order Like last month, rebates are NOT very high, but inventory is ridiculously low. It is a seller's market. The plus side is that the used market value for these is high, but no one knows if that will be transitory. Be thorough shopping for these vehicles to make sure you get the best deal available. It would be best if you made certain resale value doesn't hamper you years down the road.
