Keeping with this trend, the six-speed automatic transmission with the Silverado HD's standard 6.6-liter gas V-8 engine has been replaced with the Allison 10-speed, previously paired with the Duramax 6.6-liter diesel V-8. This change allows the gross combined weight rating of the gas V-8 HD to increase from 24,000 pounds to 26,000 pounds. The Duramax turbodiesel V-8 retains its Allison 10-speed transmission for the 2024 model but with more power on board.
