We understand the importance of knowing a few tips and tricks on caring for your car at home without going to a mechanic in Fort Payne, Al. We’re sharing a surefire way to ensure you never hear the dreaded three clicks of death when turning over your engine in the morning.
If you have a multimeter in your home garage, then you’re already off to a great start. Connect the multimeter to the appropriate negative and positive terminals on your car’s battery to check the voltage. If you aren’t reading 12.6 volts with the car turned off, it may be time for a new battery.
Now, switch on the car and check the revised voltage for a reading ideally over 10. If you see the voltage dip below five while the engine is running, the battery is in poor condition, and a new one should take its place.
